Medication abortion is done with two drugs. The first stops the pregnancy and is taken during your appointment at the clinic. The second medication causes the expulsion of the pregnancy and must be taken 24 to 48 hours later at home. The process takes place in the privacy of your own home, in a place of your choice, and may take several hours or even days.
Medical abortion is possible up to the end of the 9th week.

Appointment information
Plan to spend about 2 hours at the clinic. Follow-up is important to ensure the abortion is progressing normally.
Bring your health insurance card or your IFHP document. Photo identification will be required at reception.
After completing your health questionnaire, you will meet with a nurse who will conduct an ultrasound. She will explain in detail the procedure and address any concerns or questions you may have. This is also an opportunity to discuss contraception if you wish.
You will take the first medication at the clinic, when you meet the doctor. You must wait 24 to 48 hours before taking the 2nd medication.
You will take the 2nd medication at a location of your choice, 24 to 48 hours later. Don't plan anything for the hours that follow. Bleeding will continue for several days.
You will have a follow-up telephone call with a nurse approximately 2 weeks after taking the medications. This step is important to evaluate the success of the abortion and the possible presence of complications.
