Medication abortion combines two drugs. The first stops the pregnancy, and is taken during your appointment at the clinic. The second medication causes expulsion of the pregnancy, and must be taken 24 to 48 hours later, at home. The process takes place in the privacy of your own home, in a place of your choice, and may take several hours or even days.
