Terminated pregnancy

Intervention after a miscarriage

Pregnancy termination occurs when the development of the fetus stops before it becomes viable, usually in the first trimester. In some cases, a medical procedure may be necessary to remove the contents of the uterus, thus preventing possible health complications.

If your miscarriage has already been diagnosed and an instrumental procedure is required, our team can assist you in a timely manner.

Our medical team understands the emotions associated with a terminated pregnancy and is here to provide professional and caring support. We are committed to maintaining the best possible conditions to protect your health and fertility.

The process

Appointment information

Preparing for your appointment

  • Plan to spend about 3 hours at the clinic.
  • Do not eat or drink for 2 hours before your appointment.
  • Come accompanied by a responsible person for the return home (preferred, but not mandatory).
  • The relaxing and pain relief medications that are offered during the abortion can affect your condition for a certain time. For 24h:
  • do not drive
  • do not consume drugs or alcohol
  • favor calm activities
  • avoid activities requiring concentration or judgment such as supervising young children, using dangerous tools or equipment, taking school exams, and signing important documents.
  • Bring your health insurance card or your IFHP document. A piece of photo ID will be required at reception.

Meeting with the nurse and ultrasound scan

After completing your health questionnaire, you will meet with a nurse. She will explain the procedure to you in detail.

Everyone can react differently after a miscarriage, and we understand that it may be difficult to come to an abortion clinic for a surgical procedure.

Please don’t hesitate to share your situation with us if you feel the need.

The intervention

The instrumental procedure takes just a few minutes. The dilatation and aspiration technique is performed through the natural vagina and cervix. You will be given pain-relieving and relaxing medication during the procedure. A nurse will be with you at all times.

Rest and Recovery

You stay in the recovery room for about 1 hour. A nurse will make sure you are comfortable, and the person accompanying you may be present at this stage.

You will be given information and instructions for afterwards.

Home instructions
